Working With Children Check (WWCC)

Why Do I Need A Working With Children Certificate (WWCC)?

In line with Life Saving Victoria's Member Protection Policy, the Rosebud to McCrae Life Saving Club is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for children and young people and, because of the nature of our Club facilities, Rosebud to McCrae Life Saving Club requires ALL members aged 18 and over to hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC).

Please note that the Lifesaving Club is run by volunteers, and WWCC’s are free for volunteers and last for 5 years.

A member can apply for a WWCC prior to turning 18 and you are encouraged to do so if your 18th birthday falls after the current season commences in September.

How Do I Get A WWCC?

  1. Go to the WWCC website at Service Victoria.
  2. Complete your application online. New applications take approximately 15 min.
  3. You will receive an email from WWCC Victoria within a couple of days with your application number. You can forward that email to our Membership Team at then send through the card number and expiration date, or send all at once.

When completing your application you will need the following details:

Name: Rosebud & McCrae Lifesaving Club
Address: 650 Point Nepean Rd, McCrae VIC 3938
Phone: 9676 6930 This is LSV (Lifesaving Saving Victoria) Support Number

Providing WWCC Verification

The Rosebud to McCrae Life Saving Club  will check the status of your WWCC before your membership is accepted. Your card itself is insufficient evidence of your Check.

Before applying:

  • Update your details to include the name of your club. You can check if you have done this online via ‘Update your details’ at Service Victoria.
  • We will check this against the letter of confirmation it will receive from the Department of Justice (DoJ) with a copy of your Check once you have updated your details. This makes sure all records are kept up to date and the DoJ can contact your club should any of your details change or your Check is refused or canceled.
  • Please note: if you are a member of multiple clubs, each club should be added to your WWCC card.

Exemption For Registered Teachers

A teacher in Victoria with current VIT registration is exempt from submitting a WWCC, however, by law they are required to inform WWCC Victoria if they are a volunteer in any child related work outside of teaching. When completing your notification you will be asked for the email address of the organisation. Please use so that once you have made your notification to WWCC they will send our Membership Team an email and we will be able to proceed with your membership.

Please go to https://service.vic.gov.au/services/teachers-notifications/ to complete your notification and to see the full details about this requirement.

If at any time your VIT registration is suspended or canceled, you must (under the Worker Screening Act 2020) advise us of this change within 7 days and that your exemption no longer applies. Severe financial penalties apply if you fail to do this.
